Back, Neck and Shoulder Pain

Back, neck and shoulder pain is the most common reason people come to see us. Our multidisciplinary team helps ease the discomfort and address the physical and lifestyle factors behind it.

Back, neck and shoulder pain is probably the most common reason people walk through our door at Feel Amazing Wellness Centre in Chatswood. Whether it is postural pain from sitting at a computer all day, a stiff neck you woke up with, tension from carrying the kids, or something that has been building for weeks, our team can help.

Pain in these areas can develop for many reasons, including muscle tension, joint stiffness, physical strain, stress, injury, posture and repetitive daily habits. Often it is a combination of factors rather than one single cause. At Feel Amazing we have multiple practitioners across different disciplines who work together to support both the immediate discomfort and the contributing physical and lifestyle factors involved.

Common causes we see

If any of these sound familiar, you are not alone. These are the concerns we treat every day.

How we can help

At Feel Amazing we take a team approach. Depending on what is going on in your body, one or a combination of the following may be recommended.

Massage directly addresses muscle tension, stiffness and pain in the back, neck and shoulders. Your therapist uses targeted techniques to release tightness, improve mobility and help your body let go of held tension. Deep tissue work may be used for persistent or deep-seated tension. Chiropractic focuses on the musculoskeletal system, particularly spinal and joint function. Our chiropractor Elijah assesses your posture, movement and joint function to identify areas that may be contributing to your pain. Many clients combine chiropractic and massage to address both joint and muscle restriction. Learn more about chiropractic

Dry needling can provide targeted release for deep tension, trigger points or muscles in spasm. It can be added to a massage or chiropractic session, or booked on its own. Learn more about dry needling

Acupuncture may help support pain management and overall comfort. It is commonly used alongside other treatments and can be helpful for chronic or recurring pain. Learn more about acupuncture

Naturopathy may help where pain and tension are ongoing. Our naturopath Anthony can advise on nutritional and lifestyle support, magnesium, sleep quality and stress management, all of which can influence how your body manages pain. Consultations are available online. Learn more about naturopathy

Frequently asked questions

Should I see a massage therapist or a chiropractor for back pain?

It depends on what is causing your pain. Massage is typically best for muscle tension, tightness and soft tissue concerns. Chiropractic is suited to joint function, movement, stiffness and musculoskeletal function. Many clients benefit from both. If you are unsure, book whichever feels right and your practitioner can guide you from there.

How quickly will I feel better?

Many people feel improvement after their first session. For longer-standing concerns, it may take a few sessions to see ongoing improvement. Your practitioner will give you a realistic idea of what to expect.

I woke up with a stiff neck. Should I come in?

Yes. A stiff neck usually responds well to treatment. Massage, chiropractic or a combination can help release the tension and restore movement. Early treatment can often reduce discomfort and restore movement more quickly.

Is it normal to feel sore after treatment?

Some mild soreness for 24 hours after massage or chiropractic is normal, particularly if the area was very tight or had not been treated before. This usually settles within a day or so.
