How to book

Book a remedial massage and let your therapist know you would like a lighter, relaxation-focused session. They will adjust their approach to focus on helping you unwind.

Who is relaxation massage for?

Relaxation massage is for anyone who needs to slow down and give their body some care. You might benefit from relaxation massage if you are:

Relaxation massage can be a wonderful introduction to massage therapy, particularly if you are new to massage or prefer a lighter treatment approach.

What happens in a relaxation massage session

Your therapist will check in with you about any preferences, areas you would like focused on or areas to avoid. The session uses long, flowing strokes and gentle kneading to ease surface muscle tension and promote a sense of calm throughout the body.

The pressure is lighter than remedial or deep tissue massage, though your therapist can always adjust it to your preference. Many clients find themselves drifting off during a session, and that is completely fine. You are also welcome to choose the music you would like to listen to during your treatment.

30 minutes is a quick reset when time is limited.

45 minutes provides enough time to settle in and feel the benefit.

60 minutes is our most popular relaxation option, allowing you to fully unwind.

90 minutes is the ultimate wind-down for when you really need to switch off.

What to expect after your session

After a relaxation massage, most people feel calm, rested and physically lighter. You may feel a little drowsy or spacey afterwards, which is completely normal after deeply relaxing for an extended period of time.

How relaxation massage works with our other services

Many clients choose to book both massage and acupuncture as part of a broader approach to stress management, sleep and overall wellbeing.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between relaxation massage and remedial massage?

Relaxation massage uses lighter pressure and flowing techniques focused on calming the body and mind. Remedial massage is more targeted and therapeutic, addressing specific concerns like pain, injury or muscle tension. If you are unsure which to book, your therapist can blend elements of both during your session.

Is relaxation massage just a treat or does it have real health benefits?

Both. While relaxation massage feels calming and restorative, research also suggests massage may help support relaxation, sleep quality and overall wellbeing, particularly during periods of ongoing stress and tension.

Can I fall asleep during my massage?

Absolutely. Many clients do, and it is a sign that your body is relaxing. Your therapist will not be offended.

Can I claim relaxation massage on my health fund?

Our massage sessions are booked under remedial massage, which is the registered treatment type for health fund claims. HICAPS is available for on-the-spot claiming. Your therapist will use the techniques most appropriate for your needs on the day.
