Relaxation massage at Feel Amazing Wellness Centre in Chatswood is a lighter treatment focused on helping you unwind, calm your mind and let your body release the tension it has been carrying. Sometimes that is exactly what you need, and research shows that even gentler forms of massage can have positive effects on both physical and emotional wellbeing.
Relaxation massage is sometimes referred to as Swedish massage. At Feel Amazing, we use flowing, rhythmic techniques designed to ease muscle tension, improve circulation and promote deep relaxation.
How to book
Book a remedial massage and let your therapist know you would like a lighter, relaxation-focused session. They will adjust their approach to focus on helping you unwind.
Who is relaxation massage for?
Relaxation massage is for anyone who needs to slow down and give their body some care. You might benefit from relaxation massage if you are:
- Feeling stressed, overwhelmed or struggling to switch off
- Carrying general tension but don’t have a specific injury or pain
- Looking for a way to take some time out for yourself
- Having trouble sleeping or feeling fatigued
- Someone who prefers a lighter, more soothing massage
- New to massage and unsure what to expect
Relaxation massage can be a wonderful introduction to massage therapy, particularly if you are new to massage or prefer a lighter treatment approach.
What happens in a relaxation massage session
Your therapist will check in with you about any preferences, areas you would like focused on or areas to avoid. The session uses long, flowing strokes and gentle kneading to ease surface muscle tension and promote a sense of calm throughout the body.
The pressure is lighter than remedial or deep tissue massage, though your therapist can always adjust it to your preference. Many clients find themselves drifting off during a session, and that is completely fine. You are also welcome to choose the music you would like to listen to during your treatment.
30 minutes is a quick reset when time is limited.
45 minutes provides enough time to settle in and feel the benefit.
60 minutes is our most popular relaxation option, allowing you to fully unwind.
90 minutes is the ultimate wind-down for when you really need to switch off.
What to expect after your session
After a relaxation massage, most people feel calm, rested and physically lighter. You may feel a little drowsy or spacey afterwards, which is completely normal after deeply relaxing for an extended period of time.
- Give yourself a moment to slowly reorient before rushing back into your day
- Drink some water after your treatment
- If possible, keep the rest of your day fairly low-key to hold onto that relaxed feeling
- Many clients notice improved sleep on the night following their massage
